Yesterday we crossed into British Columbia from Alberta and the clocks changed again, now three hours different from home. It stays light out until after 10 PM (last night it was after 11 as we were on the western side of AB).
We stopped at the entrance to BC and the official beginning of the Alaska Highway. Now The Milepost book will become helpful and insightful to everything along our drive. At this location there was an art museum in an old grain elevator with a pottery exhibit that we liked. I took too many photos to show here. I’ll just share a few.
Last night’s campground was in Pink Mountain. The guy at the desk said we’d be better off staying at their sister campground 20 miles away, along the Sikanni River. It really wasn’t as bad as the photo shows and we surely didn’t use that red bathroom!
We followed this camper for miles and miles. Then they were at the campground too. I was able to share this picture with them. How often does that happen?
We stopped along the way today for the World Famous Cinnamon Rolls at Tetsa River RV. In fact, we drove right past it but because it had a big ad in The Milepost book I lobbied for turning around to get one. Actually two. We ate one right there and still have the other for later. It was as good as it looks.
Milepost has warning after warning about animals that might be in the road. We saw three black bears on the side of the road and one deer. But we were really happy to see many stone sheep. There were families with babies and some casually strolling across the highway.
Tonight’s campground is in Toad River, population 60 and right off the Alaska Highway. Our site overlooks this river. It turned out to be a campground we liked a lot.
Thanks for all your happy comments that Harvey is fixed. But… last night in Sikanni River RV the electricity kept turning off and on. That means a lot of clicking and beeping as the microwave flickered and the little electric heater went off and on. The temperature dipped to 37 so when it got cold in there we were glad for our blankets and sleeping bags. Steve even turned on the camper’s propane heater, not something we’ve used before. Hopefully it was the fault of the campground’s electric hookup and not Harvey’s. Tonight will tell… a bit disconcerting to say the least.
PS Now it’s a day later. Harvey has had no more electrical issues. Hooray!!

Pictures are great. Glad Harvey is ok. Interesting experience. Thank you.
Hooray for Harvey!! So glad you made it!! Pictures are wonderful! Cinnamon roll yum! Safe travels ❤️❤️
Glad you’re enjoying the pix. We’re having fun!
I am glad you now have electric again! Drive and ride carefully! Have fun 🤩
Thanks. Having lots of fun!
Love following your blog. Hopefully, no more problems with the electricity in future campgrounds. Love the picture of the sweet roll. Ron and I were at a grocery store the other day and they have 6 for $6. They looked really good!! But, when we got home I warmed one up and put some butter on it and decided it wasn’t even worth the calories to eat it! So I tossed it.
It’s been cold here in Portland. Haven’t been able to ride as much as we would like and trying to get some walks in between rain showers.
Love the wildlife you are seeing. Travel On my friends!
Ours was definitely worth the $6 and the calories!
Never heard of stone sheep before. They’re cute!
Me neither. Named for a guy whose last name is Stone!
You’re trip is amazing and we are loving your blogs! Stay safe, happy and healthy!!!!! BTW That cinnamon bun made my mouth water. I hope they didn’t post the calories.
I think they used a decalorator. No calories!! Haha
Always turn around for the cinnamon rolls!! Beautiful pictures. Happy Harvey is doing well.
My thoughts exactly!
Those sheep look like they mated with a cow! hahaha….. Your trip is ‘moving right along’. You’ve seen (and eaten!) lots of wonderful things – I’m so happy for you both and that you can share your adventure with us all. Very glad Harvey isn’t ‘sick’, just poor campground connections. I’m excited to see more Alaska pics. Continued safe travels.
we should cross the border into Alaska on Saturday!
You got love good ole Harvey – and extra blankets!! Nice to really enjoy the elements. I remain amazed at the length of the days.
When we moved to Maine our auto insurance did not go down, despite being in rural area. When I asked our insurance co. about that, he asked if I had ever seen a moose. Good point – all those animals out there can do serious damage. I know you take care. Thanks for sharing the beautiful scenery. I can almost smell the air. And nice campground.
Gorgeous pictures. That cinnamon roll looked absolutely delicious. Safe travels, my friends.
Such a great blog! Loved the privy (glad you had your own), the pottery, the scenery, the wildlife, and mouth-watering cinnamon bun! Thanks so much for taking us along. It’s appreciated! Very hot here so you re not missing much 💕
Scone today… I’ll share a photo. It’s still been very cool here. 47 now. Love it!
