Wyoming

In Wyoming we stayed at two campgrounds for just one overnight. In Elk Mountain we stayed at the No BS RV park. That’s for sure. There were a handful of water/electric/sewer sites (called Full Hook Ups, or FHU) but we were the only ones there except for the woman from the camper next to us who came over to take our money.

When it stopped raining we walked across a little bridge to Elk Mountain, population 199 and falling. Every storefront (there were 3) was closed but we met a woman that we’re calling the Chicken Lady. She has 30 chickens that she raised from chicks so they are imprinted with her voice. When she calls them they come running.

The next night we were in Daniel, Wyoming. Right off the highway, behind the office/store, up the hill were the few FHU sites. We parked next to a pitiful camper with broken windows. I hope no one has to live there full time.

They did have a nice fire pit with great views (we didn’t use it) and I found a fun pair of earrings.

  1. What an adventure! Looks like a movie set. About as far from FL scenery as you can get. Thanks 🥰

  2. Brings back memories of super-small town America we encountered on my cross-country bike trips with Fred. I wonder if you could find a wordpress tool to insert a location map. Barring that, how about a google maps link to show where you are each day. That might even be better. We can then open your location and zoom in or out for context. Oh, please do!!
