Entering the US at the border was no problem. There was no line, no waiting. But we did have to hand over the eggs we had in the fridge because of regulations due to bird flu. I bet the border guy is going to have a nice egg dinner tonight. We had a shorter day of driving today to arrive at the first notable Alaskan town, Tok (rhymes with poke) population 1200 but appears much smaller. We’re at a quiet, clean campground for two nights.
But this was the best bear of the day

Please take a picture of the ‘night light’ showing how light it is – possibly 2 a.m. I KNOW this is a big ask, but it would be cool to see how light it is 21 hours a day! (won’t hold it against you if you decline my request). hahaha…..
I’ve thought about doing that… and tonight is the longest day of the year! I’ll see what I can do.
I felt sorry for that black bear crossing the road. It had a serious limp. Probably injured.
Debbie and Steve, so glad you safely made it to Alaska. Your pictures of the area are stunning. It’s too bad we couldn’t have joined you on this journey but we are so glad we get to follow along vicariously. We’re still waiting to get into the house – new close date is July 26th. Enjoy your trip and safe travels. Bill and Sametta
Yeah, I often imagine what it would have been like to be together on the journey. Hopefully another time, another place. And we hope you’re feeling better every day.
Yippee you’re there. Just look at the size of that bear’s claws!! to say nothing of look at the size of the whole bear!!! I love Tok.
That is a monster sized bear! What kind of bear was it? Alaska is breathtaking! Enjoy your vacation!!
