Part II Friday. Flightseeing!!

Since the landslide closed the one and only road deep into the park it was impossible to see the Denali Mountain peaks from the road. Denali, which is 86 miles from the park entrance, is the tallest mountain in North America but the other mountains obscured the view. So we signed up to take a flight in a small prop plane.

There were 9 people on our plane including the pilot and co-pilot, and three planes going up at the same time. Our pilot is the owner of the business and really knew his stuff. He narrated and pointed out everything and dipped the wings right and left so everyone would get a good view. There were also a taped narration and gentle music when the pilot wasn’t talking. We wore headphones which drowned out the engine noise and made it easy to hear.

This was quite a memorable way to celebrate our 50th Anniversary!
